Research Participation System
(Subject Pool)
This
summary describes the essential aspects of the research participation
system for the subject pool. Research
participation is currently managed by the Department of Psychology
using a computerized system (Sona) that allows researchers from
any department with IRB approval to post studies and allows participants
to sign up for studies online. This system also keeps track of
participation, sends reminder notices, and carries out other functions
that streamline the process.
All
PSYC 1113 courses have required research participation for students,
which may include participation in an experiment, attending a research
colloquium, or writing a brief summary of a research paper.
Instructors for other courses may choose
to have their students participate in the Subject Pool as well,
either for required credit, or for extra credit. Contact Nick Wisdom,
subject pool coordinator, at nick.wisdom@okstate.edu to
sign up.
Any
course that participates, either for required or extra credit,
must offer viable alternatives to being a research subject.
